The Model 971 VRC (Vent Rib Compensated) is a used revolver that is fairly common to find on GunBroker.com and GunsAmerica.com auction websites. This model was manufactured from 1996 through 1998 and imported by Interarms. The 971’s size and function is similar to a Smith & Wesson K-frame but with a J-frame sized grip.

Is 38 special same as 9mm?
Both bullets are equal in bullet diameter, the 9mm case is about 3/8 of an inch shorter than the . 38 Special but boasts double the pressure.
What do you like about the Rossi m971?
There are a couple things that I like about the older Rossi over the new one: I like the adjustable rear sight on the older Rossi, the red insert on the front sight, the ribbed top of the barrel, 2-1/2″ barrel instead of 2″, and the fact that I am really liking getting into older revolvers. What are your thoughts on this older M971?
Is the Rossi 712 a 971?
The Rossi 712 is of complete stainless steel construction, like many Rossi revolvers. It seems that 971s had compensators at the front of the barrel. I could be wrong. Then again….. On the other had there is a 1989 2 1/2″ barreled version so it could be. Luckily Rossi still services the Interarms imports.
Does Rossi still provide firing pins for Interarms?
Luckily Rossi still services the Interarms imports. My buddy has one that predates Interarms, and I’ve had a time trying to locate a firing pin for it. I finally found one on ebay a couple days ago.
